Building a Student App from the Ground Up

Dimenso Student is a mobile application that brings essential university services—such as accommodation, dining, payments, and updates—into a single, easy-to-use interface. The goal was to transform a complex set of services into a modern mobile product that students can rely on every day. We were responsible for the complete end-to-end delivery, from early discovery and UX definition to UI design and front-end development, resulting in a scalable app designed for long-term use and growth.

Defining the Product Foundations

With no existing app to build on, the project began by defining the product itself. Through workshops and close collaboration with the client, we clarified user roles, data structures, and real-world usage scenarios. These insights were translated into detailed USER flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes used to validate logic and usability before moving into visual design.

A Visual Language Designed for Students

The visual identity was designed to appeal to students while maintaining clarity and trustworthiness. After testing multiple directions with a student focus group, we defined a “Young & Fresh” style combining bold colors, modern typography, and playful geometric elements. The result is a distinctive yet flexible design system that can be adapted for future audiences or use cases.

Development

Front-End Built for Real-World Use

The app was developed as a hybrid mobile application using React Native. We delivered the complete front-end while closely collaborating with the client’s backend team on API integration and data handling. Native features such as biometrics, gestures, and animations ensure the app feels fast, responsive, and natural in everyday use.
